Like in Project Runway and Top Chef many of the directions ask similar things. For instance the assignments that are asked of in the composition textbooks and readers ask for specific explanations and criteria, similar to the shows asking for certain items and criteria. What is assumed in both the readings and textbooks and along with the two reality shows is that quality work is brought forth. Whether it be writing, making food or an astounding outfit. Another Striking similarity between the textbook and readers versus the two reality television shows is that both the contestants and students are constantly being judged and put under pressure to do their absolute best work.
Unlike in Project Runway and Top Chef the textbooks and readers ask you to base much of the assignments from previous discussions and readings, and imply strict guidelines. However In the two reality shows much of the work that is done is based solely on the creators own ideas and imagination, with a very broad outline of what is expected. I believe something that is overlooked in the writing of the textbooks and readings is that there is never much room for writing that comes from imagination, don’t get me wrong writing could still be unique and fun to read but there is a source for all the writing work that is being asked. Different from the creators of the reality shows there imagination and creativity can be shown much more through the work that they do.
