Compare/Contrast

While reading some English textbook assignment samples I definitely noticed some similarities to the reality shows we were asked to watch, Top Chef and Project Runway. One of the first similarities I noticed was Both show's and assignments were judged based out the quality of the work. If I were to hand in an assignment that was clearly rushed through and had no thought behind it I would receive a failing grade. Whereas if I handed in a very thought provoking essay I'd get a higher grade. In the T.V shows the lesser quality entries were up for elimination, while the higher quality one's receive immunity from the next round. Another similarity is that specific task were assigned. In English you are given a specific topic to write about. How you write it is were you can get unique but the underline principles are the same. Just like in the show were the contestants are given a specific category for their end product to fall under. In Top Chef they were asked to create a dessert. Each contestant's end product was different, but they were all pastries.
One of the major differences between show's and English assignments was in the show there is no room for error. screw up one challenge and that could mean they end of you. If I were to put forth good effort but just messed up an assignment I could talk to my professor and arrange something.
