Compare and Contrast
When it comes to comparing Top Chef and Project Runway together it is like comparing apples, to apples. In both shows the contestants are chosen because they already have a well documented background in either art they may be performing. The contestants of each show are each under pressure from the judges and deadlines of the given task, and are all graded on a similar scale. Each contestant has to create a product that is original, well made/cooked, and meets the specifications of the given task. This relates to how the portfolio judges have to grade us. They are given a product we made to our best ability under pressures and guidelines, just as the contestants on each television show. The differences, however, of the shows besides just the obvious(on one show they cook and on the other they make clothes) there are other differences like in Project Runway the contestants are given a task to create something that has not been created before. Something completely original that is out there, but not so out there that's the concept is not understood or so the product is not too gaudy. While on Top Chef the contestants are given a task to create something that's been made before and that there is directions for if they do not know how to make it. These differences of the shows also compare to how each and every one of our essays will be. Some people will write a conventional essay that is not out there and is just average, and some will go for it and either get an "A" or crash and burn. There is a fine line between the two and I think sometime this year we will learn how to determine where exactly that line is.
