Have you stopped lately and realized how much has changed in the past decade? With the vast advances in technology it has increased our abilities to write a much more descriptive and informational paper. You may not realize it but black ink and a piece of printing paper alone can grab the readers’ attention much easier can a pencil and lined paper. Technology has allowed writers to be able to emphasize sentences and minimize spelling and grammatical errors.
In my own writing alone I have noticed that I can be much more creative when I use my laptop then when I am hand writing a paper. First off when I’m on my laptop I don’t have to play it safe, I can use big words in my papers and if I spell them wrong I can go to spell check and correct them. When I hand write a paper I tend to stay away from the big words because I don’t want my spelling errors to take away from what I’m saying and take the reader’s attention off of my paper and to my spelling errors. Typing a paper also makes the paper more clear, as in you don’t have to worry about penmanship and making sure your paper is legible to your reader because every word comes out perfectly typed. And staying on topic with font, the computer also allows you to change the font to a different theme if that would make the paper for catchy or easier to read for the reader.
There are many other things that can be done with technology to allow a person to be a better writer. If there is something important in a piece of writing of mine like directions to something I can bold the text so it sticks out to the reader and puts a lot of emphasis on that word or sentence so the reader doesn’t over look it or forget about it. I also make the title to a paper look flashy and eye catching if that’s appropriate. But most of all I use technology to make my writing as professional as I can make it. It allows for people to take me seriously on what I’m saying and not judge me on my penmanship, my style of writing, or my spelling and grammatical errors.
